“Turba”, a Portuguese expression for “mob” or “rabble”, is Metadevice’s return to a more evident structured sense of composition, often rhythmically guided, combining a wide range of sounds from harsh throbbing synths, loops, electrified drones and even rusty-edged guitars to build sharp industrialized music.

Driven by the intense vocals of Rui Almeida (experimental rock NU’s frontman), whose lyrics in both Portuguese and English merge his own words with appropriations from T.S. Eliot, Thomas Pynchon or Nathaniel West, this is an album about collective alienation, raving individualism and a deep dive into the hyperreality of our modern times. This mass movement is not a liberation, but an inexorable escalation of autophagic violence and atomization towards the void.

“Turba” é o regresso de Metadevice às composições mais estruturadas e ritmicamente orientadas, onde a combinação de um vasto leque de sons, de ásperos pulsares sintetizados, loops, drones electrificados a rasgos ferrugentos de guitarra, edificam uma aguçada sonoridade industrial.

Dirigido pelas intensas vocalizações de Rui Almeida (vocalista da banda de rock experimental NU), cujas letras em português e inglês fundem as suas palavras com apropriações de T.S. Eliot, Thomas Pynchon ou Nathaniel West, este é um álbum sobre a alienação colectiva, individualismo delirante e um profundo mergulho na hiper-realidade dos nossos dias. Esta turba não é um movimento massificado de libertação, mas antes uma inexorável escalada de violência e atomização autofágica em direcção ao vazio.
